Scott Goodpaster
BS, CSCS

In 2005, Scott Goodpaster founded Cincinnati Functional Fitness, a performance and personal training fitness facility dedicated to changing and enhancing the lifestyle and fitness habits of motivated individuals.  CFF works with individual clients, athletes, and teams to reach their optimal fitness level.
Goodpaster graduated in 2002 from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Health Promotion.  He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the NSCA, Certified Functional Training Specialist and is USA Weight Lifting Sports Performance and Club Coach Certified.

Jenny Buzek

Jenny is a certified performance trainer with a passion to help other people feel their best. She has a strong understanding of the importance of incorporating cardio fitness along with muscular strength. That is exactly what attracted Jenny to Functional Fitness, because of the unique way it incorporates strength training and cardio vascular fitness into a single innovative workout.


Jenny is "The Queen" of the FIT classes that are offered at CFF. She has a lot of fun teaching the classes and making sure everyone has the correct form and they are enjoying a great workout.

Melissa Hawthorne

Melissa Hawthorne RN, BSN, CSCS has been a Registered Nurse for 28 years with emphasis in critical care and cardiology and has spent 6 years in medical sales for a major medical and cardiology device corporation. With 21 years experience in the fitness industry, some of her certifications in both group fitness and personal training include, ACE, AFAA, ISCA, Johnny G. Spinning, Mat Pilates, Reformer Pilates, USA Weightlifting, and Aqua Fitness. Missy is also certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) for NSCA.

Missy is a skin care specialist and fitness consultant for The Plastic Surgery Group Inc. Cincinnati, and is owner of Priority Fitness Personal Training and Wellness. Missy also provides corporate fitness assessments for Living Longer Proactive Health Care Strategies. She served as a group fitness director for Bally Total Fitness in Cincinnati for 17years before moving to Cincinnati Functional Fitness (CFF).

Missy is an international workshop presenter and is currently a Master Trainer for Resist-A-Ball Inc., ISCA Personal training, and Promise Enterprises for Kick-boxing. Missy has played an active role in the development of the strength and conditioning program for the Cincinnati Reds Minor League teams, spring training 2002. Missy has often been asked to share exercise and fitness tips for FOX 19 TV or "Stretch on The Square" on Channel 12 WKRC TV. Missy served as chairperson for the City of Hope's Workout for hope 1998 - 2000 and continues to serve on the National Wellness Board for the City of Hope Research Hospital in California.

Allison Thorpe

Allison has always had an interest in health and fitness and knew she would be happiest in a career where she could help others.  Becoming a personal trainer has allowed her to combine these two passions.  She enjoys being able to educate others about personal fitness and gets her greatest satisfaction from watching her clients improve their quality of life.

Whether she's training herself, her clients, teaching FIT classes, or simply helping to keep her friends and family motivated, Allison's dedication to helping others achieve their own personal fitness goals is evident. She is patient, encouraging, knowledgeable and passionate. 

Allison believes that whether your desire is to get a body that simply runs better or a body that looks better, functional training is the way to achieve your goal. 

“I have tried many types of fitness programs over the years and this is by far the best way to train your body.  I can’t imagine training myself or others in any other way.  I can honestly say that I have never felt healthier and stronger than I do now and it will work for you too.”

Mike Bennett
BS, CSCS

Mike grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and attended Moeller High School (’06) where he played basketball for four years and was fortunate enough to be Goodpaster trained!  After Moeller he went on to attend the University of Kentucky where he graduated with a degree in Exercise Science.


 While at the University of Kentucky Mike took the opportunity to explore many different avenues of fitness such as Crossfit, Yoga, Sealfit, Olympic rings, TRX, the 300 workout, P90X, Insanity, triathlons and much more.  During the fall of 2009 Mike completed an internship at Norfolk Naval Base in Virginia where he worked the front lines of the fitness department, helped design fitness facilities on naval ships, and trained U.S. Marines and sailors in physical fitness.  It was also in Lexington, Kentucky where Mike became an Instructor at Legion Fitness which specializes in group training sessions using bodyweight, kettlebell , and combat fitness workouts.  Mike also helped develop the curriculum for the Legion Warrior PT program which is designed for military, law enforcement, and first responder personnel.  Mike has trained members of each branch of the armed forces as well as recruits.


Mike is an advanced Krav Maga trainee having studied both traditional and Commando Krav Maga.  He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the NSCA and looks forward to bringing his knowledge to CFF.  To Mike, there is no substitute for hard work and he looks forward to helping clients exceed their limits and achieve their true potential.

Ann Stromberg
MSW, LS

Ann Stromberg MSW, LSW is a school therapist working with elementary school students in the Cincinnati schools.  Ann believes in the connection between physical and emotional wellbeing with good fitness habits being the key to balance in all areas of life.  Ann often incorporates aspects of fitness into therapy with her young clients.  She is passionate about helping others always feel their best and reach their fitness potential.

Ann is a personal trainer, group fitness instructor and yoga instructor.  She holds certifications with AFAA, Yogafit and Spinning.  She enjoys a long history of running, group fitness and strength training and believes functional training is the perfect training method.  Functional training benefits any individual who wants to feel and look their best and Ann is dedicated to helping you reach your personal goals!

Britty Wiles

Britty, who is certified by AFAA, has been passionate about exercise and athletics throughout her entire life.  She believes that everyone, regardless of their age, physical condition, or emotional well-being deserves to feel the benefits of exercise and human movement.  She designs each workout to meet the specific needs of her client and will work with you to achieve your personal best.  Whether you want to lose weight, get stronger, or improve your overall fitness level, she will keep challenging you with safe and fun exercises that always incorporate good posture, balance, flexibility and core strength.
