The journey between my nephew Tyler and I has created a strong friendship and an absolutely incredible transformation inside and out.  I’ve had the privilege to train Tyler with his strength & conditioning for wrestling for over a year now.  Tyler has dedicated himself to getting better by working his heart out.  He trains at CFF three times per week and we run the stairs down at Nippert Stadium every Sunday.  It’s really gratifying being passionate about something that creates value in someone’s life.  We as trainers have the most rewarding job on the planet.  Any trainer can put an athlete through a workout that causes discomfort and count to ten BUT not many trainers can change lives and create a better athlete.  It is a privilege training my little, soon to be, big nephew.  As you can see, Tyler’s physical transformation is remarkable.   His work ethic is contagious and his confidence is beyond measure.  He is on a mission and has learned not to give up when things get hard.  He has endured the pain that success requires.  He appreciates the grind and discipline and refuses to not give in.  Sunday, running the stairs at Nippert stadium, he beat me for the 1st time with heart not muscle.  Usually, he would lay down exhausted on the field of Nippert.  He felt victorious beating his uncle.  I am so proud of my nephew.  Tyler has shown tremendous heart and dedication the off-season.  I am confident that his mindset will carry on the rest of his life, because now success is inside of him.  We as trainers are changing what the sprit will drive and what the mind will accept.  The best part of this story is that we have fostered a strong friendship and it is that journey, I have embraced.  I am definitely looking forward to his success this year.

Terry Norton is a senior wrestler at Milford High School. He began his  training with CFF in April 2009. At the time, he weighed 285lbs. Terry’s nearly 2-year journey has changed his life both on the mat and off the mat. He has lost 70lbs, has put on over 20lbs of muscle, and has decreased his waistline 42 to 34 inches. His internal fortitude and world-class work ethic has changed his life forever as he has achieved his goal of being in great physical condition and health. Terry is currently ranked 10th in the state of Ohio in his weight class. His accomplishments have empowered many and CFF is very proud of this young man. Congratulations to Ryan Thomas for winning the Trinity Award.  Thomas claimed championships in all 3 prestigious Cliff Keen National Tournaments.  He opened the year winning the Cliff Keen Athletic Kickoff Classic in November.  Thomas then went on to win the Cliff Keen Athletic Tulsa Nationals in January and the Cliff Keen Athletic Reno World of Wrestling Championship on April 5th.  Thomas became one of select few for Ohio to ever win the Award.

Congratulations to Alex Marinelli!  Marinelli captured his 5th   grade school OAC state title.  CFF is proud of all your hard work Alex!

Congratulations to Penn States David Taylor who is a 2010 University National Champ.  David wrestled freestyle and competed in the 70kg weight class.  Keep up the Hard work DT!

On April 3, 2010 Coach Mezinger of Fremont Ross his son Bailey and his teammate Brock traveled down from outside Toledo to consult with CFF’s training program for Wrestlers.  I want to thank them for believing in CFF’s methodology of training and for being passionate about learning how to reach their fullest potential.

Congratulations to Ryan Thomas and Jaden Mattox.  Both of these hard working grapplers won the 2010 Tulsa Nationals.  Ryan wrestled in the 76lb weight class and went 5-0 crushing all of his opponents with 5 pins.  Jaden wrestled in the 70lb weight class and went 5-0.  Jaden persevered through two overtime matches to capture the title.  The Cliff Keen Tulsa Youth Tournament is known for being the toughest in the world.  CFF is blessed to have the opportunity to train these hard working young grapplers.  The Journey of what it takes to be a true champion is defined by these two young athletes.

David Taylor received the prestigious Dave Shultz H.S. Excellence Award on June 6, 2009.  This Award is given to the nation’s top wrestler, evaluated on excellence in wrestling, scholastic achievement, character, citizenship and community service, in honor of the former Olympic and world champion.  In addition, David was inducted into the National Hall of Fame.  I was honored to be able to escort David.  It was an experience I will cherish for a lifetime.
